What a father does

What A Father Does

Luke 15:11-32
11And he said, A certain man had two sons:
12And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
13And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
14And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
15And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.
17And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
18I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
19And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
20And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
21And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
25Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
26And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
27And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
28And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.
29And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
30But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
31And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
32It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
 I Got to Thinking about fatherhood recently
o I Started to question my ability
o I Started to question my decisions
o I Started to look back when I was a child (Bad/Good)
 I Started to read the bible and evaluate what a father does.

 Please take notice that your father may not do all of these things BUT YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER HAS.

 JOHN 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

 Jeremiah 1; 5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

A. God loved you so much that before you were born he had already made a plan for your life

 God gave us a way to be forgiven thousands of years ago
o He made it easy
o He made it free
o He made it available for everyone that asks
 God gave us a book so that we might be clean in our lives
o He Gives us instruction on how to live
o He Gives us example of failure
o He shows us that even after failure we can still be made clean
 By asking
 The bible states that the heavens celebrate when a soul Joins the family
o I can see God celebrating when one that he loves will spend eternity with him
 God Give us eternal security, so that even though we might sin, we are still his children
How does such a Great God (Father) Do this??

God's Free Gift of Salvation All have sinned
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
I John 1:8 “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us."

There is a penalty for sin
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
John 3:18 “He that believeth in Him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
Revelation 20:14-15 “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

You cannot save yourself
Titus 3:5 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us.”
James 2:10 “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”

Salvation has been provided
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

The conditions are simple:
Repent - Luke 13:3 “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
Confess- Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is
made unto salvation" Believe - Acts 16:31 “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”

NOW is the time for decision
II Corinthians 6:2 “ . . . behold now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

The next move is yours. God is waiting for you to believe. Pray to Him, repenting of your sins and asking Him to forgive. Accept the gift He so freely offers. Do it today
